Dark shadows of Filipino EXPOSED

As part of life we tend to meet different kind of people from anywhere in the country and in the world. As filipinos anywhere we go we have the traits of being kind and hospitable, as always what other people say. Do you know that kindness and good attitude shadows the truth of what is the other side of our own fellow filipinos. For greed and money, they do what they want and without bearing in mind what the disaster and bad effect to the coming generations.

As I scanned the net I found some hurtful words that others describe us and our country. It's sad to know but its the truth. How about find some time reading the contents and state what you think as what other people think on us FILIPINO's.

Others may be judgemental and criticized us , others also loved us as what we are . Other see us by our mistakes but still be thankful coz for some people filipinos are strong people who has principles in life. In this world of hunger , poverty, war and sadness there are still who remains good and GOD fearing. Even though this is the hurtful truth, just do your part being a good citizen of the PHILIPPINES.

Improve Your Mood

Instead of focusing on what goes on when people become anxious or depressed, a growing number of psychologists are saying it’s high time to look on the bright side. “Our interest is emotional well-being, in what goes right for people who are happy and well-adjusted,” says Christopher Peterson, PhD, a professor of psychology at the University of Michigan and a leader in the field of positive psychology, a new approach to the discipline. “What are the traits that allow people to lead fulfilled lives? What are the strengths and virtues that contribute to happiness?”

If that sounds more like the stuff of greeting cards than serious science, consider this: the distinguished Oxford University Press published Character Strengths and Virtues: A Handbook and Classification, an 800-page scholarly text that categorizes and analyzes the 24 key traits associated with mental health and happiness. Edited by Peterson and University of Pennsylvania psychologist Martin E.P. Seligman, PhD, considered the guru of positive psychology, the book celebrates characteristics like love, prudence, creativity, and leadership. It’s intended to be a counterpart to the traditional text of psychiatric medicine, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, with its gloomy chapters on troubling conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia. China unblocks 'some' Internet sites

BEIJING, China (AP) -- Olympic organizers unblocked some Internet sites at the main press center and media venues Friday while others remained off limits for journalists covering the Beijing games.

Accredited members of the media go online at the main Olympic press center in Beiijng.

The move falls short of the "free and unfettered access" the organizers and Chinese officials had promised for months. However, it was an improvement from earlier in the week when sites for the likes of Amnesty International or Tiananmen Square could not be opened.

Senior International Olympic Committee officials met late into the night Thursday with their Chinese counterparts and said they reached an agreement to unblock sites, although the IOC statement said the details were still being formulated.

"We trust them to keep their promise," the International Olympic Committee said.

Kevan Gosper, the press commission head of the IOC, said the IOC and Chinese officials were working toward "unblocking sites that we believe were unreasonably blocked."

Gosper acknowledged full Web access was not possible due to China's authoritarian government and the tight social controls exerted by the Communist Party. Video Watch video about Web site ban »

World's tiniest snake found in Barbados

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) -- A U.S. scientist said Sunday he has discovered the globe's tiniest species of snake in the easternmost Caribbean island of Barbados, with full-grown adults typically stretching less than 4 inches (10 centimeters) long.

The snake is so small it can curl up on a U.S. quarter.

S. Blair Hedges, an evolutionary biologist at Penn State University whose research teams also have discovered the world's tiniest lizard in the Dominican Republic and the smallest frog in Cuba, said the snake was found slithering beneath a rock near a patch of Barbadian forest.

Hedges said the tiny-title-holding snake, which is so diminutive it can curl up on a U.S. quarter, is the smallest of the roughly 3,100 known snake species. It will be introduced to the scientific world in the journal "Zootaxa" on Monday.

"New and interesting species are still being discovered on Caribbean islands, despite the very small amount of natural forests remaining," said Hedges, who christened the miniature brown snake "Leptotyphlops carlae" after his herpetologist wife, Carla Ann Hass. Read more here
